Websites, Funnels & Landing Pages

What's the difference?

WEBSITES:

They are online sources for a collection of information about a business, organization or entity. On a website, you can find everything you need to know to learn about what an organization does and wants you to do. Good websites are laid out per Google's best practices for website creation. Sometimes websites can be super creative or simple. The key idea is that if a website is interesting to a visitor, they stay on the site for more than 2 minutes. Super successful websites provide the user with what they want to see and learn and users stay A LONG TIME. We only use time spent and actions taken on the site to determine the sites value, success, or desirability. Cousins, friends, spouses, and co workers, are not good sources for determining if your site is good. Some sites may not "look" good, but are great for potential customers. Sites must be extremely effective at keeping the user engaged. When users are engaged, and visit for a substantial amount of time, you have a great site.

FUNNELS:

Funnels are similar to websites in that they must be engaging and keep the user interested. Funnels are unique because they drive the user to DO a certain action like click a button, watch a video, provide contact information, or make a purchase. Funnels usually have many steps that must be taken to drive the user to take action. Example: an insurance quote funnel asks the user many questions to drive the user to provide information so that an insurance sales quote can be provided.

LANDING PAGES:

Landing pages are similar to websites in that they must be engaging, but the goal is to drive the user to do ONE specific thing. Example: a landing page is where a user clicks after seeing an advertisement. They "land" on the page. A landing page does not tell you everything about an organization, product, or service. A landing page is one page that drives the user to do one thing like buy one product. The Landing page is all about keeping the user focused on one area or idea so that they can take an action planned by the organization when creating the landing page.
